歯学部の姉妹校・・・バングラデシュ・ダッカ大学歯学部<br>

　新潟大学とダッカ大学歯学部は、平成５年に姉妹校協定が調印され、歯学学術の交流を図ることとした。現在、本学部に在籍する留学生や研究者、９名を含め、今までに１２名が留学生として来学し、４名が訪問している。何れも本国では歯科医師の資格を持ち、講師職から留学している人も多い。既に、大学院を終了し、本学から博士の学位を授与された人が２名、本年度修了者が２名と、順調に経過している。現在までにダッカ大学教員による本学部での学術講演が２回行われ、一方、本学部からは、延べ５名が訪問し、共同研究、学部講義、学術講演が行われている。<br>
　現在のところ、卒後教育としてのダッカ大学大学院の整備が十分でないため、本学大学院への留学が中心となっているが、博士取得者の帰国によりダッカ大学の卒後教育の充実が期待されている。また、今後は、学部における講義の相互の実施、あるいは学部学生の相互訪問等が期待されている。<br>
　教職員の方々の、留学生との更なる交流が望まれる。<br>

   Dhaka University was established  in the year 1916 during the period of British regime in Bangladesh. It has been called "The Oxford of the East" by considering it's teaching standard.   The Dhaka University has got 9 faculties; Faculty of Arts, Biological science, Commerce, Law, Medicine, Post Graduate Medicine & Research, Pharmaceutical Science, and Social Science.   At present the total  students of Dhaka University are about 25,000 (1994) and an admission  capacity is 4000 per year.<br>
   Dhaka Dental College, Dhaka University, is under the Faculty of Medicine.   This College was established in the year 1961 when Bangladesh was East Pakistan.   The college started with 6 students and only one full-time teacher in a small room of Anatomy Department of Dhaka Medical College.   But, at present, it becomes  the biggest Dental College & Hospital of the nation constituting all most all the departments of dentistry.   About 60 students including 5 foreigners are getting graduation from Dhaka Dental College per year and more than 1000 patients from all the corners of the country are getting dental treatments from different clinics of Dhaka Dental College Hospital in every day.<br>
   The existing Departments of Dhaka Dental College are Anatomy & Histology, Dental Anatomy, General & Oral Physiology, Science of Dental Materials & Engineering, General & Dental Pharmacology, General Pathology, Oral Medicine & Oral Pathology, Medicine, General Surgery, Conservative Dentistry, Periodontology, Orthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Community & Preventive Dentistry, Dental Radiology, Children Dentistry, and Anesthesiology.   In these departments there are 5 Professors, 12 Associate Professors, 12 Assistant Professors and 28 Lecturers.   The following Departments will be opened very soon; Conservative Dentistry -2, Orthodontics -2, Oral Surgery -2, Prosthodontics -2, Dental Jurisprudence & Forensic, General & Oral Microbiology, General & Oral Biochemistry.<br>
    In Dhaka Dental College Hospitals there are 7 clinics for out patients and 20 beds for indoor patients.   The out patients' clinics are in the department of Diagnosis, Minor Oral Surgery, Operative Dentistry & Endodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Children Dentistry, and Prosthodontics.   Oral Surgery Department is also running with twenty beds for indoor patients with 2 operation rooms.   One Resident Surgeon, one Assistant Register, 20 Dental Surgeons, 60 internee doctors and around 25 Post Graduate Trainee Doctors, along with the college members, are working in the Hospitals.<br>
    Academic Courses of Dhaka Dental College are four year-B.D.S (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), one year-internship, one year-Post Graduate Clinical Training Courses.   Beside these in IPGM&R there is one year-Post Graduate Diploma (D.D.S) course.
