The Education and Research Center for Global Oral Health Science has been established within the Niigata University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Science, Course for Oral Health Sciences, as of April, 2011.
The aims of the Center are to develop human resources able to play key roles in translational research furthering regenerative medicine specific to Dentistry, and to train professionals with internationally recognized expertise for meeting current demands in Global Oral Health Science.
This will be accomplished by developing and promoting educational programs that utilize the existing platforms in education and research resources as well as global networks.
The Center will create and actualize the following two human resource development and implementation programs that efficiently utilize existing human resources and networks:
"Program for Human Resource Development for Regenerative Medicine devolved by technology in oral mucosa cell culture (Course Program 1)" and "Program for Globalization utilizing WHO Oral Health Science Networks (Course Program 2)"
Course Program 1 aims to train professionals who can promote oral mucosa stem cell research via engineering oral mucosa and lead research outcomes through the spectrum of translational medicine (clinical applications). The ultimate goal will be to advance research in oral mucosa keratinocytes progenitor/stem cells and to facilitate clinical applications of easily obtainable gingival cells over any "epithelial tissue wound healing" in the human body.
Course Program 2 seeks to enhance the Center's faculty's capability for further promoting international collaboration of educational research in Oral Health Science, and to foster professionals who can formulate, modulate, and practice the international policy and strategy proposals in the Oral Health Science field such as supporting practice in developing countries.
