Our Research

Prosthodontics specializes in the placement of crowns and dentures. The faculty of the department focuses mainly on lectures and practical training in crown placement, while the outpatient clinic focuses mainly on prosthetic treatment. We believe that the living body reacts to the treatment of teeth and that without a fundamental understanding of this reaction, eating functions cannot be maintained for a long period of time.

Clinical Fields

The fixed prosthodontics (crown and bridge) clinic focuses on treatment using fixed dental prostheses, such as crowns and bridges, for patients who have lost all or part of their teeth because of tooth decay or periodontal disease. The back teeth are important for chewing food, and the front teeth affect the aesthetics of the mouth and facial expression. Therefore, we strive to provide treatment that suits each patient’s demands. For missing teeth, we offer removable dentures and fixed dentures using dental implants. Because of the use of metals in restorations, we have established an outpatient metal allergy clinic in cooperation with the Department of Dermatology. We diagnose metal allergies and provide restorations using alternative materials. We have established an outpatient root fracture clinic to preserve vertically fractured teeth, which would otherwise be extracted.
